Financial Readiness for Every Mission
Military life brings unique challenges, especially when it comes to managing money from wherever duty takes you. Whether you're preparing for deployment, stationed overseas, or supporting a loved one from home, Tyndall is here to help you stay financially secure and mission-ready.
Newly Enlisted? Start Strong.
Thank you for your service! As a newly enlisted service member, one of the first steps to financial stability is setting up your banking foundation.
After opening your account with Tyndall, enroll in Direct Deposit to ensure your military pay is delivered securely and on time. Set up automatic payments for recurring bills like your phone, car loan, or insurance so you never miss a due date, even during training or deployment.
Before You Deploy
Set Up Account Access
Enroll in Online or Mobile Banking, set up account alerts (low balance, withdrawals, fraud alerts), and confirm your contact information is up to date.
Automate Your Finances
Schedule automatic bill payments, set up automatic transfers, and enroll in Direct Deposit (if not already).
Review Your Budget
Review your budget to account for any changes in income, expenses, or benefits.
Grant Account Access with a POA
A Power of Attorney (POA) is a legal document that allows someone you trust to act on your behalf for financial matters. Military legal assistance offices can help you create a POA before deployment.
Notify Your Credit Union
Let your credit union know your deployment dates and countries in advance by updating travel notifications and setting up real-time transaction alerts in the Tyndall Cards app.
Review Insurance & Beneficiaries
Update life insurance, ensure you have beneficiaries on all accounts, and review your auto insurance if your vehicle won’t be used.
First Term Military Loan
Special auto, motorcycle, and credit card loans for active-duty military members.
Using Your Visa® Card Overseas
Accepted in Over 200 Countries and Territories
Look for the Visa logo when you shop. Purchases are made in the local currency, then converted to U.S. dollars when Visa processes the transaction. You’ll see the original foreign amount, the exchange rate applied, and any foreign transaction fee (if applicable) in your account.
Manage Travel in Your Tyndall Cards App
Update your travel notifications in the Tyndall Cards app so your card won't be declined or blocked. Provide the countries you’ll be visiting, a reliable email address, and an international contact number (if available).
Withdrawing Cash Overseas
Use your card at an ATM to withdraw local currency. You'll select the amount in local currency, the ATM dispenses local cash, and Visa converts the withdrawal into USD.
Know your daily withdrawal limit before you deploy.
On-Base vs. Off-Base Usage
On Base, USD is typically accepted and processes card transactions like U.S. transactions. Off Base, expect local currency pricing, exchange rate fluctuations, occasional card network outages, and cash-only merchants in smaller towns/rural areas. Keep a small amount of local currency on hand as backup.
Destress your PCS
Relocation is a regular part of military life, but every move comes with financial decisions. Planning ahead can reduce stress, prevent unexpected expenses, and keep your finances mission-ready. A PCS is more than a change of address; it’s a major life transition. The Tyndall team understands military relocation and is here to help.
Confirm your report date, understand your authorized travel days, and determine eligibility for Dislocation Allowance (DLA).
Even with reimbursements, PCS often involves out-of-pocket expenses. Set aside funds to cover expenses until reimbursements are processed.
If living off-base, you will need to determine whether you will be renting or purchasing a home. The Tyndall team is here to help answer any of your mortgage questions, even before you relocate.
PCS can lead to missed bills if not managed carefully. Keep auto-pay active during travel, monitor accounts, set up low-balance alerts, and forward mail to avoid missed statements.
