Overdraft Protection

A backup plan for life’s little mix-ups.

Sometimes a payment hits before you expect it. Overdraft Protection can automatically transfer available funds from an account, loan, or a combination of sources to help cover an overdraft.

You can link:

  1. A Regular Share or Money Market Account under the same member number (Governmental Regulation D restrictions will apply).
  2. A Tyndall Credit Card or Line of Credit. Interest on the amount advanced accrues as of the date of the advance.
  3. A combination of the Tyndall accounts or loans shown above. The sources of Overdraft Protection are accessed in the order of your choice. You may use up to two accounts and one loan as Overdraft Protection sources.

Courtesy Pay

A safety net for those “not quite enough” moments.

Courtesy Pay is a discretionary overdraft program that can ensure your transaction goes through if you overdraw your Checking or Money Market Account.

Courtesy Pay is not a loan or a line of credit, and your maximum limit is specific to you. If you never use Courtesy Pay, there is no fee.

  • If you have a transaction (such as a check, Automated Clearing House (ACH), electronic payment, including Bill Pay, or recurring debit card transactions like gym memberships, Netflix, etc.) come through and you do not have sufficient funds to cover it, Tyndall will first attempt to cover it using standard Overdraft Protection sources you may have set up in one of these accounts: Savings, Money Market, Credit Card, Line of Credit, HELOC. If there are no other accounts that can cover it, Courtesy Pay may/will kick in and cover the transaction up to your limit.
  • Your account balance can go below zero for a short amount of time. You must bring the account to a positive balance within 30 days.
  • Limits range from $200 up to $1,750 and are subject to change daily based on membership status and relationship. Each transaction, plus the applicable NSF fee, must be within your current courtesy pay limit to be paid. Daily and monthly limits may apply.
  • If you exceed your Courtesy Pay limit, any additional items presented for payment will be returned, and applicable fees will be assessed.

Additional Courtesy Pay Information

  • Courtesy Pay coverage does NOT apply to ATM withdrawals and everyday debit card transactions automatically. If you would like Courtesy Pay coverage to also apply to those types of transactions, you must specifically request it. To opt in to Overdraft Coverage on these types of transactions, you can opt in by selecting the option in Online or Mobile Banking, visiting a branch, or contacting our Member Care Center at 850-769-9999 (888-896-3255, toll-free).

  • If you do not want to have the Courtesy Pay service added to an account to help protect you from accidental overdrafts, please visit a branch, send us a secure message in Online or Mobile Banking, or contact our Member Care Center at 850-769-9999 (888-896-3255, toll-free).

  • The Courtesy Pay overdraft limit is not included in your “available balance” shown at the ATM, when calling in through the automated system, or through Online or Mobile Banking. If you withdraw funds in excess of your available balance at an ATM and you have opted in to Courtesy Pay for everyday debit transactions, the withdrawal may access Courtesy Pay, and you would incur Paid NSF Fees.

  • You are responsible for managing your account; we recommend you regularly monitor your account through Online or Mobile Banking so you are immediately aware of an overdraft occurring. No separate notification is sent to you when Courtesy Pay is used.

  • Because Courtesy Pay is a non-contractual courtesy extended to you by Tyndall, it can be removed from your account at any time and at the sole discretion of the credit union. Whether an overdraft will be paid is discretionary, and we reserve the right not to pay it. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if an account is not in good standing, if you are not making regular deposits, or if there are too many overdrafts.

  • Fees are subject to change without notice; please refer to our current Fee Schedule. If an account is not in good standing, Tyndall may remove Courtesy Pay from an account without notice.

Courtesy Pay FAQs

There is no monthly service fee for Courtesy Pay; you are only assessed a fee when you use it. If your account is never overdrawn, you never pay a fee for Courtesy Pay.

Each time Courtesy Pay is used, you are assessed a small Courtesy Pay Fee (refer to the current Rate & Fee Schedule for fee amount). There is a maximum of five (5) Paid NSF Fees per day.

  • Checks written on your Tyndall Checking (or Money Market) account
  • ACH (automatic or pre-authorized) debits on your Tyndall Checking (or Money Market) account(s)
  • Tyndall Debit Card transactions, including point-of-sale transactions (only if you have opted in to Overdraft Protection)
  • ATM transactions, including point-of-sale transactions (only if you have opted in to Overdraft Protection)
  • Tyndall Online or Mobile Banking/Bill Pay transactions

Please note: Automated Teller transactions are not covered by Courtesy Pay.

Since the item is paid to the merchant (or individual), you are not assessed a "Returned Check" (or other returned item fee) by that merchant.

Courtesy Pay provides a "cushion" for those unexpected emergencies or errors. While it is not an invitation to overspend, Courtesy Pay will assist you in the event of an overdraft.

No. You are eligible for Courtesy Pay after your Checking or Money Market account has been open for a minimum of 30 days. Accounts are reviewed daily to determine if they continue to meet the basic requirements of the program and to determine the limit.

It appears on your statement, and you will see it in your account history in Online or Mobile Banking. If you have Paperless Statements on your account, you will receive an electronic notice through the Paperless Statement section of Online or Mobile Banking. It is then your responsibility to bring your account back to a positive balance as soon as possible.

Still Have Questions?

You may reinstate or revoke your Opt-In decision at any time. This request may be made in any of the ways mentioned above with regard to the initial authorization.

A separate Opt-In/Opt-Out request is required for each Checking Account and Money Market Account you may have with the credit union.

Fees and the monthly maximum number of Courtesy Pay limits are subject to change without notice; please refer to our current Fee Schedule. If your account is not in good standing, the credit union may remove Courtesy Pay from your account without notice.
