Courtesy Pay

Navigate Overdrafts Responsibly

Tyndall's Courtesy Pay program is a financial safety net to pay your transaction in the event funds are not available in your account.

Courtesy Pay is a discretionary overdraft program for members in good standing

If you overdraw your Tyndall Checking or Money Market, Courtesy Pay can ensure the transaction goes through. It is a service that is automatically available on qualified accounts once the account has been open for 31 days; you do not need to apply.

It does not cost you anything to have the Courtesy Pay service on your account. Many members find it is an invaluable service to have as a "back-up" - just in case.

Courtesy pay is not a loan or a line of credit, and your maximum limit is specific to you, and subject to change. If you never use Courtesy Pay, there is NO FEE.

Here’s how it works

  • If you have a transaction (such as a check, Automated Clearing House (ACH), electronic payment, including Bill Pay, or recurring debit card transactions like gym memberships, Netflix, etc.) come through and you do not have sufficient funds to cover it, Tyndall will first attempt to cover it using standard Overdraft Protection sources you may have set up in one of these accounts Savings, Money Market, Credit Card, Line of credit, HELOC. If there are no other accounts that can cover it, Courtesy Pay (may/will) kick in and cover the transaction up to your limit.
  • Your account balance can go below zero for a short amount of time. You must bring the account to a positive balance within 30 days.
  • Limits range from $200 up to $1750 and are subject to change daily based on membership status and relationship. Each transaction plus the applicable NSF fee must be within your current courtesy pay limit in order to be paid. Maximum of (5) NSF Fees per day.
  • If you exceed your Courtesy Pay limit, any additional items presented for payment will be returned and applicable fees will be assessed.
  • The above does not apply to Tyndall First Accounts.

How it works for Tyndall First Accounts

  • Fee-Free Courtesy Pay is an overdraft program that will cover your point-of-sale transactions up to $200 negative with no fees.* This is a free service available 31 days after your account has been opened.
  • If you have a linked overdraft source such as your savings account or Tyndall Credit Card and you don’t have funds in your Tyndall First Spending account, Tyndall will look to that overdraft source first and if no funds are available you can go negative up to $200 with no fees.
  • Example: You have $100 in your Spending account and $50 in your Savings account and you go to the ATM to withdraw $350 from your Tyndall First account. It will withdraw the $100 from your Spending account, the $50 from your Savings account, and the $200 Fee Free Courtesy Pay will cover the additional $200 with no fees.

Additional Information

  • Courtesy Pay coverage does NOT apply to ATM withdrawals and everyday debit card transactions automatically. If you would like Courtesy Pay coverage to also apply to those types of transactions, you must specifically request it. To Opt-In to Overdraft Coverage on these types of transactions, you can opt-in by selecting this option in Online Banking, speak with a Financial Service Representative at one of our branches (not available for Tyndall First members), or contact our Call Center at 850-769-9999 (888-896-3255, toll-free).
  • If you do not want to have the Courtesy Pay service added to an account to help protect you from accidental overdrafts, please speak with a Financial Service Representative at one of our branches (not available for Tyndall First members , send us a secure message through Online Banking or contact our Call Center at 850-769-9999 (888-896-3255, toll-free).
  • Courtesy Pay does not apply to GENIE24 transactions.
  • The Courtesy Pay overdraft limit is not included in your “available balance” shown at the ATM, through GENIE24, or through Online Banking. If you withdraw funds in excess of your available balance at an ATM and you have Opted-In to Courtesy Pay for everyday debit transactions, the withdrawal may access Courtesy Pay and you would incur Paid NSF Fees.
  • You are responsible for managing your account; we recommend you regularly monitor your account through Online and/or Mobile Banking so you are immediately aware of an overdraft occurring. No separate notification is sent to you when Courtesy Pay is used.
  • Because Courtesy Pay is a non-contractual courtesy extended to you by the Credit Union, it can be removed from your account at any time and at the sole discretion of the Credit Union. Whether an overdraft will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay them. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if an account is not in good standing, if you are not making regular deposits, or if there are too many overdrafts.
  • Fees are subject to change without notice; please refer to our current fee schedule. If an account is not in good standing, the credit union may remove Courtesy Pay from an account without notice
